Oracle Netsuite – Probably the best ERP system in the world (Well certainly in my World!)

“Write a blog” he said. “Share your findings” he said. “How?” I said.

This was the start of our conversation regarding plans to get across to people how easy it is to get to grips with Oracle Netsuite.

The thing is, you have to be a good blogger to grab people’s attention and you have to have something interesting to say about a topic that people will want to read about! ERP platforms is not it – or is it?

If, like me, you are suddenly presented with a system you’ve never seen before let alone worked with then this might just be something you may be interested in.

We’ve all been there – you start a new job, eager to please and you suddenly find yourself faced with a system you know nothing about, you’ve never clapped eyes on in your life and to cap it all, for some reason you’re now being trained and mentored by someone who knows the system like Yoda knows the force and is eagerly anticipating that within the next 8 hours you will be fully trained, inducted and writing training manuals for everyone else. Your stress levels are now already through the roof and all you want to do is run for the hills.

But before you do that 2 minute mile for the nearest mountain range Stop!!  Oracle Netsuite isn’t like that!

Oracle Netsuite is the market leader when it comes to ERP systems and one that most people have heard of.  Finding yourself in a position where you not only have to use the system but also set up everything in the system can be a daunting prospect for the uninitiated.

Working for a software implementation company has its benefits, mainly those people with big brains that understand how to take this system out of the box and make it do the things we want it to do on a daily basis in order to help run the company.

The great thing about Netsuite is the fact that it already comes with the most comprehensive training materials and there is something to suit every learning style. So, if you prefer to read the solution to your problem you can do, if you prefer to watch a video you can do that too. If you need to talk to someone, the support desk is amazing!

The other great thing about Netsuite is the fact that it is streamlined and to the point

What do I mean by that?

Well, in my experience, and mentioning no names, there are definitely systems out there that seem to think your working day is 27 hours and you can afford to make 32 keystrokes to perform one simple task when 3 or 4 would have done the job.

Oracle have definitely not fallen into this trap and have made every task easy to complete and also made it easy to do the same task from different screens so that you don’t have to go all the way back to the beginning if you have forgotten to do something – YAY!

I would never describe myself as technically minded when it comes to software systems. I can just about get to grips with sending a quick Snapchat to the kids or selling that ugly old vase on EBAY, so I was dreading having to find my way around the “new” Oracle system. I was now working remotely and didn’t want to be that employee constantly calling the MD on Teams to say “How do I do this?”

I needn’t have worried – it has been a breeze! Not always a gentle breeze, sometimes a bit squally but nevertheless, much easier than I anticipated.

Everything we did was in the “live” system because we didn’t have a Sandbox environment and so far we haven’t managed to break anything!!

The system is intuitive, and one task leads on logically to another. The other great thing I like about the system is that you can keep your database clean, you can delete records and you can merge duplicates, you don’t have to have a database that consists of 50% old or out of date information.

Oracle Netsuite allows you to build a complete picture of your customers, suppliers, projects, marketing campaigns and just about anything else you can think of. You can email, invoice, make payment, set up new projects, issue credits, all from one record. The possibilities are truly endless.

I have only been using the system for about 6 months but in that time, I have been able to migrate our whole customer database from spreadsheets to Oracle, migrate our whole supplier database, migrate the whole invoice process, the bank reconciliation now takes half the time it used to and is completely up to date for all of our accounts. Customer payments feed straight into our cashflow records and our payments to suppliers feed into our bank records.

We have saved time and money in terms of staffing, productivity and other systems we previously used and we have only just scratched the surface.

If you are looking for a new ERP system, I would urge you to look at Oracle Netsuite and maybe ask for a demo. I learn something new every day and the ease with which you can use this system certainly gave me the confidence to look at what else the system can do for us and the business – maybe it will for you too!

Whilst we can’t say “we liked it so much we bought the company” we can say “we liked it so much we became Oracle partners” Why not give us a call?
